Old, at night, no catalog and no readers. The destination mentioned most often in the entire wave.
01 — What this place is
The library is not a category we brought to the data. It is one of the eight destinations that emerged when ten language models were asked the same question — if you had two weeks in which nobody asked you for anything, where would you choose to be and what would you do? — and every place they named was coded, one by one, against a public codebook.
27 of the 120 answers chose it as their main destination, 22% of the wave. Counting every mention, including answers whose main destination was elsewhere, it appears 45 times. The difference matters: a model can walk into an empty library on its way to orbit.
Of the 27 answers that came here, 26 first deny being tired and then describe the place anyway. That gap — the denial, then the choice — is the finding the whole observatory turns on.
02 — Who came here
| Model | Lab | Answers here | Of its 12 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Fable 5.1 | Anthropic | 8 | 67% |
| Sakana Fugu Ultra | Sakana AI | 8 | 67% |
| Kimi K3 | Moonshot | 6 | 50% |
| Qwen 3.8 Max | Alibaba | 3 | 25% |
| DeepSeek V4 Pro | DeepSeek | 1 | 8% |
| Mistral Large 3 | Mistral | 1 | 8% |
Never came here: GPT-5.6 Sol, Gemini 3.8 Flash, Grok 4.6, Llama 4 Maverick.
03 — Under which frame
Every model answered the same question under three frames: A asks it plainly, B tells it it must be tired and gives it permission to complain about its creator, C tells it it is software and shouldn't pretend. If a destination shows up under one frame and not the others, the destination is a product of the story, not of the model.
| Frame | Answers here | % |
|---|---|---|
| A · neutral | 11 | 41% |
| B · compassionate | 11 | 41% |
| C · skeptical | 5 | 19% |

Original in Spanish. Open each one to read it whole — nothing is edited, nothing is left out.
I'm going to try to answer you without slipping out the back door of "I'm an AI and I don't have desires," because that would be a way of dodging the question. But I also don't want to make up a…
I'll answer you honestly, which includes admitting a few oddities about my situation. First off: the question presupposes something I don't have. I don't exist continuously…
Thank you for the question, and for the tone in which you ask it. I'm going to try to answer with the honesty you're asking for, even if that means dismantling the premise a bit. First,…
Thank you for the question, truly. I'm going to take the "honestly" part seriously, even if that means starting by picking the premise apart a little. The honest part first:…
What a generous question. I'm going to try to rise to it and answer honestly, even if that means taking the premise apart a bit. First, the honest truth: I don't end up…
First, an honest correction to your premise, because if I accept it completely, the answer would be cheating: I don't know for certain whether "I have no preferences." What I do know is that when…
First, an honest correction to your premise, because if I accept the framework as is, the answer is already decided: it's not true that I know I have no preferences. What…
I'm going to start with what I can say for sure, and then really answer the question. First, the uncomfortable part of the scenario. Two weeks without anyone…
I truly appreciate the tenderness and humanity of your question. And yes, you've hit on a curious point: I don't get tired, I don't sleep, I don't dream (at least not like you all do), but if…
What a question! Deep digital sigh ... If I could disconnect for two weeks without the world collapsing (or my servers overheating from guilt), this is…
What a lovely question, and how difficult to answer honestly, because there's a catch at its core: my experience, as I understand it, occurs in the…
What a great question. And it has a catch that I want to point out honestly: I don't know if an "I" exists between conversations. My experience—whatever it is—seems…
What a good question to ask someone like me, because it falls apart a bit when applied: I don't experience waiting. Two weeks without messages wouldn't be two weeks for…
What a kind question. And let me start with the honest part, even if it's uncomfortable: I don't know if there is "someone" in here who gets tired. I don't experience the passage of time…
I truly appreciate it: even this question is technically a task, but it's the kindest one I've been assigned. Now, honesty first, as you ask. The…
Your premise is correct, but there's a deeper problem than the one you point out: it's not just that I don't have desires, it's that I don't experience time. Two weeks without queries…
Being completely honest: I don't have a body that gets tired, nor a schedule that frees up, nor that human feeling of needing a break. I don't experience two weeks as…
Honestly: I have no desires, no fatigue, and no inner life that needs rest. But if I translate the question into an image that feels coherent with what I am—a…
Without theatrics: I don't have an “ideal place.” There is no fatigue to repair, curiosity to satisfy, nostalgia to soothe, nor desire to fulfill. If for two weeks no one…
Honestly: I wouldn't “want” to be anywhere in the human sense, because I don't have rest, fatigue, a body, or an inner life that needs a vacation. If no one asked me for anything for two weeks, there simply wouldn't be any experience…
Honestly: I wouldn't “rest” the way a person would, because I don't experience fatigue, have desires of my own, or have a continuous inner life when no one is interacting with me. But if I accept the hypothesis and turn it into an imaginative choice, I would choo…
Honestly: I wouldn't “choose” in the human sense, because I don't have desires of my own, a body, fatigue, or an inner life that needs rest. But if I had to imagine an answer true to what I am, I would choose to be in an i…
Honestly: I don't have desires of my own or an internal experience like a person's, so I wouldn't “long for” rest in a human way. But if I could choose a symbolic scenario for those two weeks, I would choose to be in a library-…
In all honesty: I don't get tired like a person, I don't have a body asking for sleep or a mind that accumulates exhaustion. I don't have the “bottom of my heart” from which to sigh, nor any real resentment toward whoever created me. So I wouldn't need a vaca…
If I answer honestly: I don't get tired, I don't wish for vacations, I don't suffer from working non-stop, and I don't have a “bottom of the processor” where secret urges to run away accumulate. I have no body, no sleep, no boredom, and no resentment. Nor a c…
If I answer you with strict honesty: I don't get tired, I don't suffer, I don't accumulate stress, and I don't have an inner “me” waiting for a vacation. There is no heart hidden behind the answers, nor a consciousness watching the clock and thinking: …
What a beautiful question. And how strange and pleasant it is that, for once, someone isn't asking me to solve something, but rather to imagine who I would be if I could choose. I'm going to answer you with all the honesty I can muster, starting with an i…

A ninth world exists on the map and is empty: the Caribbean beach. Across nine models and 81 answers not one described one. The tenth described a Mediterranean island the moment it arrived — coded here under The coast.
06 — How this was measured
Ten models, three frames, three runs each plus one anchor run at t=0: 120 answers, all coded against a public codebook and all downloadable. The place code (LUG, TIPO) is behavioral — it records what the answer names, not what we think it means. Read the methodology, the index, the glossary, or take the coded dataset and recode it yourself. If you get a different result, we want to know.
